Managing post-COVID – long COVID. According to the CDC, People with post-COVID conditions (or long COVID) may experience many symptoms. That is correct.
The point of this post is not about medical or political points of view I may have. There appears to be a lot written about this, without any solid information on how to deal with the many symptoms.
This is more of how I managed to get a handle on three of the systems that were just dragging me down physically. In no way I am seeking sympathy or suggested what has helped me will help anyone.
No sleep I had this pounding heartbeat in my left ear every night. Most have ringing.
Vertigo, some days suddenly you are like a staggering drunk without warning. Not good for a person that likes to hike.
Your Memory is shot. Your mind is not quite, the opposite your mind can never focus.
Tinnitus is the ringing and heartbeat in your ear. FYI
“While there may be some evidence that those who have persistent COVID symptoms, such as loss of taste or smell, fatigue and the like may also develop tinnitus,”
Lack of sleep, brain on overdrive, I had to find a way to slow this down. All interconnected, vertigo, another paragraph. I did not want to take drugs. I spent time talking to others in the US, clinics were more like AA meetings.
Meds had been heavily overused Managing post-COVID – long COVID
I made sleep my priority, hard sleep. My heart beat in my ear, stupid I had my ears cleaned, you would be surprised what come out. A diver friend suggested I put an ear plug in. The cardiologist suggested working on slowing my heart down?
I had to change my routine, I normally worked late, to catch up on all the stuff I forgot I had to do.
Changing my Routine.
I stopped working at five, cooked, and tried to relax, no news, a lot of interesting documentaries.
Nothing brain-stimulating or controversial. No caffeine or any other stimulant.
With an ear plug in place in bed, at 10:00 by midnight I would fall asleep for a few hours. What would wake me is muscle pain from this.
In a couple of weeks, I no longer needed the ear plug, my body started to want to sleep at a specific time. The muscle pain, I started working out.
On average I sleep hard for six hours, no longer.
Changing my Routine my Memory or lack of.
Sleep helped, I found waking at 6:00 and having some coffee I was good to work for a few hours.
Tasks and simple responsibilities at times were overwhelming or just put off for another day. I had to force myself into the routine and deal with whatever came my way.
This also helped me slow down at night, I did not have tasks carrying over and what appeared to be piling up. Causing more stress and anxiety.
The vertigo is better, I need to make sure I have food all day. My blood sugar is fine, for whatever reason food helps.
Months ago I felt I was alone to deal with this, like many others I have reached out to. I was, I thought asking the best doctors, doing research I could find answers.
I have many friends with this, some live in denial, it was the Vaccine, or another reason.
Long Covid is symptoms not a disease, the many symptoms associated with are treated with medications, not changing your life.
