Black, White and Blue A Nation Of Lost Trust

Nation Of Lost Trust Black, White and Blue

Nation Of Lost Trust Black, White, and Blue, I wrote this blog a number of years ago about how the Police now acted more like a military state then the Police I grew up and would run to if in trouble, today we all run from the police.

Black, White, and Blue A Nation Of Lost Trust. Ferguson MO, I lived in Ferguson MO years before this shooting and before the riots occurred. The shooting of Michael Brown occurred on August 9, 2014, in Ferguson, Missouri which is a northern suburb of St. Louis. Brown, an 18-year-old black man, was fatally shot by Darren Wilson, 28, a white Ferguson police officer.

Black, White, and Blue A Nation Of Lost Trust. CNN aired a town hall meeting to discuss the issues of the last weeks shooting of Unarmed Black Men, by White Cops behind the shield of Blue protection and the shooting of Dallas Police Officers.

The CNN sponsored Town Hall meeting monitored by Don Lemon makes claim to have found the answer to race relations and police reform. Sounds good for the 24 hours news cycle. Hardly a true statement.

Black, White, and Blue A Nation Of Lost Trust. When I grew up as a kid I respected the police, hell I think most kids at one time thought about becoming a police officer. The police came to our grade schools not to talk about drugs and guns, they came to talk about the community we lived in. We all sat in our classrooms as children in awe of the police.

As a teen when I got my driver’s license all the local police knew I was now a legal driver. It was like a time of passing. We knew police by first names.  They played baseball with us and knew our families, and we knew their families as well.

Black, White, and Blue A Nation Of Lost Trust. Police killed at least 102 unarmed black people in 2015, nearly twice each week. (See which police departments were responsible for these deaths). Nearly 1 in 3 black people killed by police in 2015 were identified as unarmed, though the actual number is likely higher due to under-reporting. 37% of unarmed people killed by police were black in 2015 despite black people being only 13% of the U.S. population.

Unarmed black people were killed at 5x the rate of unarmed whites in 2015.

Black, White, and Blue A Nation Of Lost Trust.  Now we have Donald J. Trump and Hillary Clinton carefully dancing around the issues. Seeking that politically correct answer, or questions, or statement. What can they do if one of them is elected President? Obama has missed the calling of change he might have had the power to impose.

Black, White, and Blue A Nation Of Lost Trust. Criminal justice professor Peter Kraska has defined militarization of law enforcement as “the process whereby civilian police increasingly draw from and pattern themselves around, the tenets of militarism and the military model. Today our US Police forces are as heavily armed as the Military. Scary thought if you ask me.

Black, White, and Blue A Nation Of Lost Trust. The FBI, Home Land Security, State Police, local sheriff, city police all have failed in dealing with the issues, since Ferguson, MO. All Ferguson did was light a fuse. Firings and changing local government in Ferguson have not changed a thing.

This is an epidemic of lost trust with all. Chicago police officer Jason Van Dyke emptied his pistol and reloaded as teen Laquan McDonald lay on the ground during barrage; cop charged with murder for firing 16 times. 16 shots were needed to stop this teen. Sounds more like revenge.

Black, White, and Blue A Nation Of Lost Trust. I sadly have no suggestion for what to do or can even wrap my head around the shootings in Orlando, St Paul MN, and the list goes on and on. Hard to follow the news cycle.

Do any of you know the name of your local police officer?

Or does anyone even care anymore?

Or are you afraid to even ask?
