Cafe El Artesano San Juan La Laguna

One of the best kept secrets around Lake Atitlan is the Cafe El Artesano Wine and Cheese Restaurant. We came across this restaurant when we were hiking in San Juan La Laguna about 4 years ago. Fast forward four years and we still visit this restaurant regularly and consider this restaurant one of the most unique of all the restaurants in the Lake Atitlan area.

Eating in the great outdoors, is there a greater pleasure in life? Quite frankly, we think no. And with year round beautiful weather, alfresco dining is perfect and what better place than in a hidden garden. It’s like finding the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

And that is exactly how we describe El Artesano Wine and Cheese Restaurant, like a pot of gold, a garden party oasis in the midst of San Juan.

You would never have any clue that there’s a calm shaded patio and European Restaurant located in San Juan La Laguna. The ambiance and atmosphere of El Artesano Wine and Cheese Restaurant is very relaxed and cozy.

Decor of this restaurant is just beautiful. Located near Cantón Chicua, in the entrance of San Juan La Laguna, Sololá they serve European food with a flair. The space is gorgeous with gardens that have ample shade and are laid out so that each table has its own private area.

All the dishes are beautifully prepared on interesting pottery dishes. Each course brings a different taste sensation and by the end of the menu our stomachs were stuffed and our minds well and truly blown. Complimentary bread was served warm with oil and vinegar.

The staff are amazing, knowledgeable, and always on hand to top up your glass without being intrusive.

Bring a group of friends and make an afternoon of this unique restaurant. Don’t miss their cheese platter it is a feast for your taste buds.
