My First Hiking Experience

My First Hiking Experience on Lake Atitlan Had to See it. I love Hiking Upper Rim Area In particularly the Mirador above San Antonio Palopo. Sometimes I hike for fun, sometimes for exploration, sometimes to the rim of volcanoes, and sometimes for a deep breath.  Often times, however, I am hiking as the guide to one of the tours we offer through our Lake Atitlan Tours.

Hiking Lake Atitlan Guatemala

When I think of Hiking Lake Atitlan Guatemala, I can’t help but think of the quote by John Muir, “Thousands of tired, nerve-shaken, over-civilized people are beginning to find out that going to the mountains is going home; that wildness is a necessity”.

In today’s society, life seems rushed, almost at a frantic pace.  After all, it seems like in most countries the more hours you spend at work, the more multitasking you can do, the fewer vacations you take, the more credible you become as an employee and your stock soars.

It’s easy to get caught up in the fast pace of daily life and forget stillness, but it is in that stillness when we slow down and breath, that we get clarity.  These are the times that we are often reminded of the miracle that surrounds us and how vast our surroundings are.  We see the bigger picture and realize we are part of a much bigger universe.

The trail, the mountains, the streams, the animals, and the flora all provide a respite.  So throw on your backpack, tie up your laces, and start moving one foot in front of the other.  Give yourself permission to take an hour, a day, a week, or even a month and go explore, breathe in and then breathe out, and just be present in the world.

We started our Lake Atitlan Tour business with the belief that other travelers share our desire to experience authentic adventures by immersing ourselves in the life of a region, exploring hidden corners, and partaking and appreciating local culture.  Our tours, at their heart, are a way of connecting more authentically with the world.
