La Palapa Bar Panajachel has been a local watering hole for many years. Located on the main street in Panajachel you cannot miss the signage, Beach Bar, which is the atmosphere you will experience under the Palapa roof.

I love great burgers, and all the joints in Pana I have tried The La Palapa Burger have never failed me. The owners made it through our COVID 19 shut down, help support them, stop by having a COLD Draft or enjoy the daily food specials they offer.

BURGERS! FRIES! Now and then I have to brag about our burgers and fries. Our burgers are a big 1/2 lbs. (a full half-pound- we weigh each patty) of the best meat we can buy. NEVER FROZEN! Thick, juicy, flavorful. They come with a variety of toppings and cheese. Our BIG DAMN burger is a full pound of meat.

Our fries are made by cutting up potatoes just before cooking and frying them. NEVER FROZEN! These are great fries, lightly seasoned.

I had a salesperson come by once with his sales book of frozen stuff. He supplies McDonald’s, Burger King, and Pollo Campero and carries the exact same frozen fries and oil that they use and expected me to be impressed and buy some frozen crap. I scorned his offerings and he was astounded that I had no interest in his frozen stuff.

I explained that we believe in using good ingredients NEVER FROZEN. One of our competitors brags that they use “the best-frozen patties that Price Smart sells!” SCORN!!! We sell dozens of burgers every.

A palapa (a Spanish word of Tagalog origin, meaning “petiole of the palm leaf”) is an open-sided dwelling with a thatched roof made of dried palm leaves.
